Today we have been learning about what bullying is and what we can do if we encounter it. We discussed the vocabulary “bully”, “victim” and “bystander”. We then made posters in our table teams and made up a chant for our whole school picket to end the day!
Year 1 have been very excited today after our visit this morning by the one and only, Samuel Pepys! We have learned so much this about the Great Fire of London, including the song London’s Burning.
The children were fantastically well behaved and all the Year 1 staff were very proud of everyone that took part. There were even some 1RC children that were turned into historical figures for the morning.
We are looking forward to using our new learning after half term when we begin to look at the Great Fire of London in more detail!
This afternoon 1RC have been focusing on using pictures to represent and prove number facts. We used our learning partners to work together using whiteboards to draw our number stories and to prove to Mr Cosgrove that we were correct!
Good afternoon parents! Everyone in 1RC would like to update you on all our learning so far this year. We have had such an exciting time so far and all the teachers are so proud of the children!
In English we have been looking at the story of The Three Little Pigs and designing our own houses to protect us from the Big Bad Wolf, using our knowledge of materials from Science! We have discussed questions and how we can accurately form them to find out more information. This week we will continue to look at the story so practising at home is always welcome!
Maths has been exciting as we have been looking at number bonds, number stories and how to use pictures to prove we are correct when working with addition. More pictures of this will follow once Mr Cosgrove works out how to attach photographs from his iPad!
Our topic this half term is the United Kingdom and we are learned to name and locate the counties, capital cities and oceans and seas surrounding us.
